Included here are narratives comprised of objects I select for both their visual appeal and their symbolic promise. One of the challenges I enjoy facing with still-lives is overcoming not only their literal, but also their static nature. In creating all my portfolios, I am motivated by the concept of transformation, allegorical first and foremost, but physical as well. Recently I have been stretching the conventions of my medium by partnering original photographs with illustrations from storybooks, wrapping papers, or reproductions of past snapshots and paintings. As always, I am skewing photographic light and motion to produce a variety of effects. As I tap into experimentation and chance, the stages and layers of my montages are becoming more visible, evidence that artistic process is, like the act of living, a work in progress.
